Features

Every gesture MyMouse supports, what each one can do, and how to set it up the way you work.

Gestures

Every gesture can be mapped to any action below, for all apps or just one.

Tap

With 1, 2 or 3 fingers — each can do something different.

Double and triple tap

Two or three quick taps, with 1, 2 or 3 fingers.

Right-side tap

One finger near the front-right edge. You can move the zone.

Swipe

One finger left or right; two or three fingers in all four directions.

Pinch and spread

Two fingers moving together or apart.

Click and drag

Tap, then tap and hold, and move. Scroll with a second finger while dragging.

Works with resting fingers

Fingers resting on the mouse are ignored, so you never have to lift your hand to tap, swipe, scroll or drag.

Record any key combination in Settings and fire it with a gesture — including shortcuts from your favourite apps.

  • ⌘TNew tab

  • ⇧⌘4Screenshot a selection
  • ⌃⌘QLock the screen

Shell commands

For anything else, run a command. MyMouse runs it in the background with your login shell (zsh).

  • open -a "Calculator"Open an app

Make it yours

Per-app profiles

Add any app and give it its own gestures. A profile only needs the gestures you want to change — everything else keeps working from All Apps.

Modifier keys

Any gesture can also require ⌘, ⌥, ⌃ or ⇧, so a two-finger tap and ⌥ + two-finger tap can do different things. Hold ⌘ during a plain tap and it arrives as a ⌘-click, just like a real mouse.

Tune it to your hand

  • How quick and how still a tap must be
  • Slide speed, so scroll flicks never click
  • The time allowed between double and triple taps
  • Where the right-side tap zone starts
  • Swipe distance and speed
  • Pinch distance
  • How a drag starts, and scroll direction while dragging
  • How long the app switcher waits before choosing

Everyday comforts

  • Turn gestures on or off from the menu bar
  • An optional on-screen overlay that shows which gesture fired
  • Launch at login
  • A warning when macOS Smart Zoom clashes with double tap
  • Automatic, signed and verified updates

Your download has started

While MyMouse downloads, here's how to install it. It takes about two minutes, and you only do it once — updates install themselves.

  1. Drag MyMouse to Applications

Open MyMouse-latest.dmg from your Downloads folder, then drag the MyMouse icon onto the Applications folder.

  2. Allow MyMouse to open

Open Terminal (press ⌘ Space, type Terminal, press Return), paste this command, and press Return:

    xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/MyMouse.app

What it does: macOS marks every app downloaded from the internet as "quarantined" and asks before its first launch. This command removes that mark from MyMouse only. It doesn't change any other app or security setting, needs no password, and downloads nothing.

⚠︎ Only paste Terminal commands from sources you trust, and know what they do first.

    Or, without Terminal:

Open MyMouse from Applications and click Done when macOS says it can't verify the developer. Then open System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click Open Anyway next to MyMouse.

  3. Open MyMouse and give it two permissions

Open MyMouse from Applications. In the Permissions window, click Open System Settings next to Accessibility and turn MyMouse on, then do the same next to Input Monitoring. Click Restart MyMouse — tap to click works straight away.
