Frequently asked questions

How long is the free trial?
14 days, with every feature. No account or card needed.
What happens when the trial ends?
Gestures stop working until you enter a licence key. Your settings are kept.
How many Macs can I use one licence on?
1 Macs.
I got a new Mac. How do I move my licence?
On the old Mac, open Settings › License and deactivate it. Then enter the same key on the new Mac. If the old Mac is gone, message us.
Can I get a refund?
Every copy of MyMouse starts with a free trial that includes every feature, so you can make sure it works well with your Mac and Magic Mouse before you buy. For that reason, all purchases are final and we don't offer refunds once your licence key has been issued. If you were charged twice by mistake, or paid but didn't receive your key, contact us and we'll put it right. And if anything isn't working after you buy, get in touch — we'll help you get MyMouse working.
Which Macs and mice are supported?
macOS 14 or later, on Apple silicon or Intel, with an Apple Magic Mouse.
Why does macOS warn me when I first open it?
MyMouse isn't notarized by Apple yet, which needs a paid developer membership. The install guide shows how to allow it; you only do this once.
Does MyMouse collect my data?
No analytics and no tracking. It sends only what's needed to check your licence — see Privacy.

What's new

MyMouse 0.2.9

  • New: the MyMouse License Agreement, in English and Burmese. Open it any time from Settings › General › Legal, or at mymouse.web.app/license.
  • New: Open-Source Licenses in Settings › General lists the open-source software MyMouse includes.
  • Improved: Settings › License shows the licence terms right where you activate a key.

MyMouse 0.2.8

  • Improved: more reliable licence checks. MyMouse confirms your licence more dependably, both online and offline, and keeps working through short connection drops.
  • New: clearer licence messages. If MyMouse can't confirm your licence, it now says why and what to do — for example, when a firewall, VPN or network filter is blocking it — and tries again on its own every few minutes.
  • New: a Try Again button in Settings › License, so you can recheck your licence straight away.
  • Improved: when you import settings, MyMouse lists any shell commands they would run and asks before adding them.
  • Improved: app updates are verified more thoroughly before they install.
  • Improved: general stability and reliability improvements.

MyMouse 0.2.7

  • Fixed: after activating a licence, MyMouse asked for a licence key again at every startup until it reached the internet. Your licence is now recognised the moment MyMouse starts, even offline.
  • Fixed: Buy MyMouse opens the new website, mymouse.web.app.
  • New: redesigned Settings — a General tab for updates and startup options, clearer gesture icons, and Restore Defaults: bring back deleted gestures, reset all gestures, or reset any single Tuning section.
  • New: one-click activation — open the activation link you receive after buying, confirm, and you're done.
  • Improved: from the next update on, clicking Install Update installs straight away, with no second click.
  • Changed: a two-finger tap now shows App Exposé by default. Right-click stays on the front-right tap. If you had changed the two-finger tap yourself, your choice is kept.
  • Improved: a licence key pasted with extra spaces or a line break is accepted.

MyMouse 0.2.6

  • Fixed: fast scrolling while resting a finger on the mouse. Quick flicks were swallowed entirely, along with the momentum after them — only slow scrolling got through. Flicks and momentum now scroll normally.
  • Fixed: a drag could get stuck — the dragged item kept following the pointer after lifting every finger. Dragging now always ends when you lift.
  • Fixed: scroll-while-dragging works again, including with a finger resting on the mouse: tap, tap-and-hold, move, then scroll with your other finger.
  • Improved: scrolling no longer clicks links or items by accident. A new Max slide speed setting in Settings › Tuning controls this — lower it if scrolling still clicks things, raise it if taps get missed.

MyMouse 0.2.5

  • Fixed: scrolling with one finger while the other rests now works properly. Scrolling no longer dies after the first few millimetres — a resting finger's natural drift was being mistaken for a second finger swiping, which killed scrolling for as long as both fingers stayed down.
  • Fixed: the same drift problem could fire an unwanted zoom, or an unintended Mission Control / minimise, during ordinary scrolling.

MyMouse 0.2.4

  • Fixed: scrolling with one finger resting the other sometimes triggered an unwanted zoom (Cmd+/Cmd-) instead of scrolling smoothly. An ordinary scroll no longer gets mistaken for a pinch-to-zoom gesture.

MyMouse 0.2.3

  • Fixed: scrolling with one finger while resting the other — the fix in 0.2.2 wasn't enough on real hardware; a deeper cause is fixed now.
  • Fixed: tap-then-tap-and-hold to start a drag didn't work while another finger rested on the mouse. It does now.

MyMouse 0.2.2

  • Fixed: scrolling with one finger while resting the other on the mouse required lifting the resting finger first. It no longer does — rest one finger and scroll with the other, exactly like before.
  • A brief banner now confirms when an update finishes installing, so it's clear the update actually happened.

MyMouse 0.2.1

  • Settings now shows which version is installed, and has its own Check for Updates… button (General tab) — no need to use the menu bar for it anymore.

MyMouse 0.2.0

  • MyMouse now updates itself. New versions arrive automatically from now on — no more downloading and reinstalling by hand. A Check for Updates… item is in the menu bar, and automatic checking can be turned off in Settings › Tuning if you'd rather do it manually.
  • Fixed the Magic Mouse occasionally taking 30–60 seconds to respond again after your Mac wakes from sleep.
  • Fixed a battery-life regression where MyMouse could keep the whole Mac from idle-sleeping while running in the background.
  • Added a warning in Settings › Gestures when your Double Tap binding conflicts with macOS's own Smart Zoom gesture, with a direct link to fix it in Mouse settings.
  • A trial expiring or a license issue is now much harder to miss — a system notification and a reminder window now appear once a day, alongside a "Buy MyMouse…" item in the menu bar, instead of only a subtly faded menu-bar icon.
  • The Dock icon now stays visible while any MyMouse window is open, including the update window, so Cmd+Tab never loses track of it.

Your download has started

While MyMouse downloads, here's how to install it. It takes about two minutes, and you only do it once — updates install themselves.

  1. Drag MyMouse to Applications

Open MyMouse-latest.dmg from your Downloads folder, then drag the MyMouse icon onto the Applications folder.

  2. Allow MyMouse to open

Open Terminal (press ⌘ Space, type Terminal, press Return), paste this command, and press Return:

    xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/MyMouse.app

What it does: macOS marks every app downloaded from the internet as "quarantined" and asks before its first launch. This command removes that mark from MyMouse only. It doesn't change any other app or security setting, needs no password, and downloads nothing.

⚠︎ Only paste Terminal commands from sources you trust, and know what they do first.

    Or, without Terminal:

Open MyMouse from Applications and click Done when macOS says it can't verify the developer. Then open System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click Open Anyway next to MyMouse.

  3. Open MyMouse and give it two permissions

Open MyMouse from Applications. In the Permissions window, click Open System Settings next to Accessibility and turn MyMouse on, then do the same next to Input Monitoring. Click Restart MyMouse — tap to click works straight away.
